DESCRIPTION:“Watercolor for the FUN of it” Returns to RAA Studio One on Wednesday evenings! \nJohn Hopper’s much loved watercolor classes will resume on Wednesdays starting Wednesday\, September 20th \nin RAA Studio One at the Gateway Complex.  This evening watercolor class from 6 to 8pm will be open to just 24 participants for the six week session of classes.  Those of you returning to the classes can attest to the FUN that both beginner and veteran water-colorists enjoy in John’s watercolor journey. \nEach week of the class there will be a new subject to paint providing diversity and varying techniques so everyone can find FUN and enjoy new insights into the marvelous medium that is watercolor.  Come\, get your brushes out and “wash” your way to wonderful and FUN watercolor experiences.  To add to the experience you can bring your iPad\, laptop or iPhone to the class and connect through ZOOM to get up close brush stroke by brushstroke at your work area\, plus in Studio help. \nEach of the six evening classes is two hours each.  The fee for all six classes total is $90 for RAA Members.  Non members is $110. DESCRIPTION:September 13  –  Oct 25\n7 weeks\nWednesdays  9:30 – 12:30\n$180\n\nStudio 2\n\n\n“Paints ~ Papers ~ Prints – Fun with Collage & Surfaces”\n\n\nIt’s certainly good to invent and play and relax into light adventure as surfaces  transform in ways that are both planned and unexpected. I help you combine\, layer\, design and build richness. Following simple principles of composition to make each move with confidence\, we’ll simply add one step to the next to build. You are bringing with you the finest ingredient–your imagination. In Studio 2 our art-making is genuinely fun; gelli printing may be a delightful series component if the class wishes. \n“Paints ~ Papers ~ Prints” allows us to complete several pieces. No experience necessary. Guided projects at the outset involve working on boards\, paper\, or canvas and selecting from an assortment of ingredients. Members may utilize their own materials\, or if preferred\, prearrange using materials provided by the instructor. \nCollect interesting papers\, pages and found materials which resonate\, and the odd tool to work them\, while I offer you techniques which complement your intention and style. Tools and adhesives for layering are provided. Go simple or build depth and dimension—the choices are endless and results are exciting. \nI enjoy sharing what I love. After being a full-time artist for decades which included a successful history of custom work for clients\, I am happy to be in my 11th year of teaching here. I often feel proud of my students’ growth. Studio 2 is our haven\, a warm place where we uplift each other as we learn. Whether abstract or representational\, work your individual style in oils or acrylics. (Watercolorists may also join this series.) Try fresh ideas. Skirt common pitfalls in this convivial class. \nI enjoying helping to develop good sequencing in the painting process. Typically we simplify new and age-old painting concepts with short demonstrations and handouts and a bit of levity. I offer information on form\, light\, composition\, values\, atmospheric perspective\, color mixing\, media\, etc. I’m happy to oblige when painters request a special focus or demo. \nConnect the dots of composition\, color partnering\, and technique that fit your style. Paint using sources you choose\, preferably photographic\, and benefit from sharing your progress with others. In Studio 1 we all help each other. \nHaving been a full-time artist for decades\, I bring that success to Studio 1 and enjoy sharing what I love. DESCRIPTION:Intermediate/Advanced Watercolor Painting with Ronald Pratt\n \nFall 2023 \n Gateway Complex\, Painting Studio 1\, Thursdays 12:30-3:00pm\, Studio 1\n \n When the summer days start to shorten and there is a little nip in the air I know autumn is fast approaching.  This is one of my favorite times of the year to paint because I know the fall foliage will start to perform its magical transformation from the summer greens to beautiful yellows\, reds\, oranges\, golds and browns.  This color palette is vibrant and exciting and inspires me to paint. If you are like me and find autumn colors inspiring\, come paint with like-minded people on Thursday Afternoons in a relaxing social atmosphere at the RAA art studio. \nThis class is designed to focus on composition and design by challenging the more experienced painters to expand their painting abilities and compositional skills. DESCRIPTION:“Watercolor for the FUN of it” Returns to RAA Studio One on Wednesday evenings! \nJohn Hopper’s much loved watercolor classes will resume on Wednesdays starting Wednesday\, September 20th \nin RAA Studio One at the Gateway Complex.  This evening watercolor class from 6 to 8pm will be open to just 24 participants for the six week session of classes.  Those of you returning to the classes can attest to the FUN that both beginner and veteran water-colorists enjoy in John’s watercolor journey. \nEach week of the class there will be a new subject to paint providing diversity and varying techniques so everyone can find FUN and enjoy new insights into the marvelous medium that is watercolor.  Come\, get your brushes out and “wash” your way to wonderful and FUN watercolor experiences.  To add to the experience you can bring your iPad\, laptop or iPhone to the class and connect through ZOOM to get up close brush stroke by brushstroke at your work area\, plus in Studio help. \nEach of the six evening classes is two hours each.  The fee for all six classes total is $90 for RAA Members.  Non members is $110. I help you combine\, layer\, design and build richness. Following simple principles of composition to make each move with confidence\, we’ll simply add one step to the next to build. You are bringing with you the finest ingredient–your imagination. In Studio 2 our art-making is genuinely fun; gelli printing may be a delightful series component if the class wishes. \n“Paints ~ Papers ~ Prints” allows us to complete several pieces. No experience necessary. Guided projects at the outset involve working on boards\, paper\, or canvas and selecting from an assortment of ingredients. Whether abstract or representational\, work your individual style in oils or acrylics. (Watercolorists may also join this series.) Try fresh ideas. Skirt common pitfalls in this convivial class. \nI enjoying helping to develop good sequencing in the painting process. Typically we simplify new and age-old painting concepts with short demonstrations and handouts and a bit of levity. I offer information on form\, light\, composition\, values\, atmospheric perspective\, color mixing\, media\, etc. I’m happy to oblige when painters request a special focus or demo. \nConnect the dots of composition\, color partnering\, and technique that fit your style. Paint using sources you choose\, preferably photographic\, and benefit from sharing your progress with others. In Studio 1 we all help each other. \nHaving been a full-time artist for decades\, I bring that success to Studio 1 and enjoy sharing what I love. DESCRIPTION:Intermediate/Advanced Watercolor Painting with Ronald Pratt\n \nFall 2023 \n Gateway Complex\, Painting Studio 1\, Thursdays 12:30-3:00pm\, Studio 1\n \n When the summer days start to shorten and there is a little nip in the air I know autumn is fast approaching.  This is one of my favorite times of the year to paint because I know the fall foliage will start to perform its magical transformation from the summer greens to beautiful yellows\, reds\, oranges\, golds and browns.  This color palette is vibrant and exciting and inspires me to paint. DESCRIPTION:Intermediate/Advanced Watercolor Painting with Ronald Pratt\n \nFall 2023 \n Gateway Complex\, Painting Studio 1\, Thursdays 12:30-3:00pm\, Studio 1\n \n When the summer days start to shorten and there is a little nip in the air I know autumn is fast approaching.  This is one of my favorite times of the year to paint because I know the fall foliage will start to perform its magical transformation from the summer greens to beautiful yellows\, reds\, oranges\, golds and browns.  This color palette is vibrant and exciting and inspires me to paint. If you are like me and find autumn colors inspiring\, come paint with like-minded people on Thursday Afternoons in a relaxing social atmosphere at the RAA art studio. \nThis class is designed to focus on composition and design by challenging the more experienced painters to expand their painting abilities and compositional skills. DESCRIPTION:“Watercolor for the FUN of it” Returns to RAA Studio One on Wednesday evenings! \nJohn Hopper’s much loved watercolor classes will resume on Wednesdays starting Wednesday\, September 20th \nin RAA Studio One at the Gateway Complex.  This evening watercolor class from 6 to 8pm will be open to just 24 participants for the six week session of classes.  Those of you returning to the classes can attest to the FUN that both beginner and veteran water-colorists enjoy in John’s watercolor journey. \nEach week of the class there will be a new subject to paint providing diversity and varying techniques so everyone can find FUN and enjoy new insights into the marvelous medium that is watercolor.  Come\, get your brushes out and “wash” your way to wonderful and FUN watercolor experiences.  To add to the experience you can bring your iPad\, laptop or iPhone to the class and connect through ZOOM to get up close brush stroke by brushstroke at your work area\, plus in Studio help. \nEach of the six evening classes is two hours each.  The fee for all six classes total is $90 for RAA Members.  Non members is $110. I help you combine\, layer\, design and build richness. Following simple principles of composition to make each move with confidence\, we’ll simply add one step to the next to build. You are bringing with you the finest ingredient–your imagination. In Studio 2 our art-making is genuinely fun; gelli printing may be a delightful series component if the class wishes. \n“Paints ~ Papers ~ Prints” allows us to complete several pieces. No experience necessary. Guided projects at the outset involve working on boards\, paper\, or canvas and selecting from an assortment of ingredients. Members may utilize their own materials\, or if preferred\, prearrange using materials provided by the instructor. \nCollect interesting papers\, pages and found materials which resonate\, and the odd tool to work them\, while I offer you techniques which complement your intention and style. DESCRIPTION:Acrylic paints are amazing!  Learn about the mediums that are essential to a rich and deep acrylic painting. \nWheeler’s style is warm and friendly. She focuses on individual instruction\, group discussion and occasional class demonstrations. Students learn the quick and creative qualities of acrylic paints and mediums and how to turn acrylic paints into a flexible and luscious way to paint. \nWheeler encourages students to try new tools\, explore new ways of working and move toward their own style. She gives the encouragement needed to stay with a painting until it exceeds the class members highest expectations. And she helps some students learn how to stop when it is finished! \nTuition is $100 for five classes\, for non members\, tuition is $120.
