Starts August 25- Sept 22__ Marcy Wheeler’s Friday Acrylics Class__9:30-12:00__Studio 2

Acrylic paints are amazing!  Learn about the mediums that are essential to a rich and deep acrylic painting.

Wheeler’s style is warm and friendly. She focuses on individual instruction, group discussion and occasional class demonstrations. Students learn the quick and creative qualities of acrylic paints and mediums and how to turn acrylic paints into a flexible and luscious way to paint.

Wheeler encourages students to try new tools, explore new ways of working and move toward their own style. She gives the encouragement needed to stay with a painting until it exceeds the class members highest expectations. And she helps some students learn how to stop when it is finished!

Tuition is $100 for five classes, for non members, tuition is $120. See blue sidebar for a materials list.

In addition to teaching at Rossmoor, Wheeler has taught at Lafayette Studio, Walnut Creek Civic Arts, Yosemite Art Center and for more than 18 years at her own studio. Wheeler has a BFA in Painting from the University of Illinois, and she studied for many years in the studio of Louise Smith, a painting instructor at UC Berkeley. She is a founding member of Bay Area Studio Artists.

Marcy Wheeler, Instructor

I did my first oil painting when I was thirteen…Received a BFA in Painting at the University of Illinois…became a baker…switched from oils to acrylics when my kids were toddling…started teaching 25 years ago...like resting in a comfy chair…like wearing a straw hat…like being by a creek…love painting. I also love working with painters who want to learn more, expanding their tool bag and art vision. All the while, having a bit of fun and getting to know each other.
