Back by popular demand, Ruth is returning to teach a workshop based on her flower painting demo last fall. She will explore the purpose of using a wide range of values in your paintings, creating depth, Illusion of 3D form, mood, and guiding the viewer’s eye ultimately to the center of interest. We will be using a range of values from the white of the paper to the darkest value in the background and all the grays in the middle.
Ruth will provide a quarter sheet (15” x 11”) of 300 lb paper and the masking product to hold your whites. She will provide an outline drawing to guide students with their initial drawing. She will proceed in a step-by-step process demonstrating the drawing, masking, under wash, shadow washes, background washes and the ending details.
We will concentrate on the outlined portion of the painting.
