Figure Lab. Wednesday 1-4 pm October 22nd – December 10. 6 sessions. Class skips 11/5, 11/26 (Thanksgiving week). Cost $90 for Rossmoor residents, $120 for non-members and non-residents, for the six sessions. Carol Tarzier is the Monitor for most sessions.
The Figure Lab is a wonderful art experience where a professional model is employed and posed with lighting. Participants have the opportunity to draw or paint from a life model in a medium of their choice. There is no instruction.
Figure and Portrait painting is one of the oldest disciplines, and is some of the best practice out there – somewhat like Plein Air but from a model indoors. Every art school requires drawing the figure from life in the curriculum. ย As you work on your piece, on the breaks, walk around and look at different interpretations of the model. The figure lab is a great accompaniment to the Portrait from Photographs class; the classes develop the same skill sets – drawing, mixing skin tones, identifying shadow shapes.ย All media are welcome – charcoal, acrylic, oil paint, pastels, mixed.
