The wonderful ambient daylight in our upgraded studios invites you to open your paintbox and shape your ideas. I’ll  offer you constant support at your easel, where you choose to paint what you love. Whether you’re a beginner or hold an MFA, we will be taking a fresh look at important painting fundamentals. And we’ll  have fun. 

New at it? Are you starting a painting or revisiting a piece? Discover and work your individual style in oils or acrylics, whether abstract or representational. As you develop your painting you’ll learn to skirt common pitfalls in this convivial class that has continued for thirteen years. Watercolorists welcome, too!

I help with essentials with lightness and fun in mind. Build compositional strengths and lay out good sequencing. My classes also address form, light, values, atmospheric perspective, color mixing/placement, mediums, etc. When painters request a special focus or demo I’m happy to oblige.

I recommend an 8×10 photograph as a starting point. Paint what you love. In the studio we also  try some exercises as we  go, always supporting each other in our fabulous painting sanctuary.

 I’ve been an artist for decades and sold my work for a living. I bring the extent of that experience to classes. In my twelve years teaching here I’ve witnessed a lot of success and feel proud of my students. Especially on our last day in our own little art festival; e we show our work/pieces in progress and complement that with scrumptious bites.

After exhibiting in the U.S. and Italy in galleries, museum shows, etc., I show abstract and representational work online and at various venues. And I offer painted silkwear here in Nov/Dec. Anna George, Instructor

Anna studied fine art in two east coast colleges and universities and has exhibited since. After founding a gallery in San Francisco, and garnering awards, she opened a big, bright studio on the Berkeley, Oakland border which housed a showroom of her multi-styled work. A decade later she moved a bit east where she has offered classes year-round for over eleven years at two venues. "I love witnessing our kinship as well as the growth and diversity of work emerging in the class," she says. "Each student moves in the direction they choose." In 2013 Anna launched and began hosting the RAA evening Soirées des Artistes which honors one artist in the community each event.
